I’m serious, why?
I was behind a Gt500 trying to show off by flooring it between red lights, when all of a sudden his rear end kicked out and he nearly lost it into an embankment. While going in a completely straight line.
Like, there was not a single turn. He was going in a perfectly straight line and almost lost it.

Torque, wheelspin and driver incompetence.

How cold was it? because my GT is even losing traction on all season tires right now the ground here is that cold.

Maybe live axle problems?

45 degrees and 662 horsepower. That’s a fuckload of horsepower.

Matt Farah said that the GT500 is one of the worst handling cars he’s ever driven, so it could be that.

#SavetheRWD
Friends, don’t let friends drive a RWD without knowing RWD.

Lots of power plus a live rear axle

I don’t know. The back end of my GT tends to go right (car turns left) when the wheels spin. It’s very easy to control though, just let off the gas and it grips again.

They can’t go in a straigh tline and they can’t turn. What can they do? :p

2/5 Mustangs:

The rear end steps out on RWD vehicles because you don’t lose/regain traction at exactly the same moment at each rear wheel. Any power bias left/right will cause it to slip to one side or the other. How bad the effect is depends on how much power there is. You see it on V8 Mustangs most often, because they are the most common high hp RWD vehicle out there, but there are videoes of the same thing happening to Corvettes. The effect is amplified if you step on the brakes, because the weight transfers to the front of the car and helps swing it around. I’ve had the rear end step out while going in a straight line back when I had my S10. No weight in the bed meant it was pretty easy to break traction, but having less than 200hp meant that it didn’t swing around too bad and you could catch it with some counter steer and not fishtail too bad. Traction control in modern vehicles should be able to catch this... I suspect it doesn’t in Mustangs because it can happen too quickly for the rate at which the system samples data to catch it. Wild guess is that a better computer could stop it, but that would add too much the price.

This. A thousand times this.
The Mustang menace meme is because people that grew up in a sad FWD world driving FWD cars are now able to buy/drive RWD cars that they simply have no clue how to handle.

Ya a GT500 more then likely has summer tires that only have grip above 50 F so even a light throttle into the power band will put the car sideways. (know this from a super snake owner because he converted his form normal GT500)

It’s funny that the GT500 is one of the worst handling cars and the GT350R is one of the absolute best he’s driven. That’s quite a range for one car(albeit different generations)

The GT500 was never meant to be a handling car, and the addition of IRS to the S550 changed a lot.

The S550 seems like one of the biggest positive generational changes ford has had driving wise in a very, very long time.

Even with a limited slip unit, cars still squirm under burnout conditions. It’s not unique to mustangs, only amplified by the power.
My guess as to why is that the back wheels are trying to go full speed, overtaking the front wheels that are just chilling.

Most high powered cars. There is only a bazillion youtube videos of all sorts of high powered cars loosing it in a straight line or slight/minimal turns

Mustang drivers are physically incapable of understanding vehicle control. They see this gif and, “Doesn’t look like anything to me.”

Driver incompetence more than anything. There’s a whole realm of options on the accelerator between idle and WOT.
